Salvation & The Prayer of Repentance
The word SALVATION is akin to regeneration, saving & redeeming. When a person realises that he/she is not perfect and that a greater force is the ruling authority(God), the Holy Spirit reveals to the individual the sin in their life. It is at this point that the person concerned seeks comfort but knows that they can not be comforted by human hands and emotion, it is now past simply feeling sorry for oneself. This person begins to seek in the supernatural for the answer, and eventually prays a simple prayer of repentance asking God to forgive their sin and inviting Jesus to come into their life, allowing His authority to take full control by choice. Only through Him will they ever satisfy the longing and hunger they have for comfort and wisdom.
Why Do You Need Repentance and Salvation: We all are spirit beings, therefore we never really die and if that's the case what happens after death? Well to try o explain i have to start with ADAM & EVE and the garden of EDEN. God originally created man to be His companion and friend,He gave dominion and authority over all things on earth and asked one thing only of MAN? "Do Not Eat Of The Tree Of Knowledge", Adam & Eve obeyed until one day a rebellious angel satan, tempted eve to eat of its fruit knowing it would destroy the relationship that God had intended.Upon disobeying God it brought a curse and separated man spiritually from God. Many generations later Jesus was born after many prophecies and much waiting, He was conceived by the Holy Spirit through a virgin and was sent in a way like a new type of Adam.Jesus lived a totally sin free life as a human man with all the troubles life brings, and at the end He gave His life as a sacrifice to break the curse and allow through Him renewed access to God. Through God's compassion and love He gave up His only son as a sacrifice to atone for mans wrong doing. You can read a full account of events in the book of GENESIS and in the 4 gospel books, MATTHEW, MARK, LUKE and JOHN. The information given within covers fully His life from conception/birth right through to His death/ressurection. So you see not only did He die for you in your place, but He was also ressurected as each believer will be to live eternity in His kingdom
To repent of sin means to be sorry for what you have done, and to make a decision to turn away from doing those things that you used to do. It also means that if there a wrongs you have committed in the past that can be corrected, you need to, finally opting to live your life for Christ.
No matter how much it hurts or how bad you think you are, when you turn to Christ seeking His forgiveness He won't turn you away, He will be more than willing to accept you JUST AS YOU ARE. He has cared and longed for the time that He could become a companion to you, and He promises that when you ask Him into your life He will come in. This is the miracle of new birth, being born again by His Spirit. Only you can make the choice as Christ will never force His way into your life. Here are a few self explanatory scriptures to help you along, and if you are not yet a Christian but would like to be, at the bottom of this page you will find a simple prayer that you can pray, and receive Christ right now where ever you are.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: {power: or, the right, or, privilege}
John 6:37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.
Revelation 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
Also read through the Isaiah chapter 53 as this will give you much understanding of what Christ accomplished for YOU, although it is a prophetic chapter. Christ took away with Him to the cross every heartache, sickness, hatred, curse etc, so that you could have life, but to gain that life you have to accept Him, there is no other way. Through other subjects on this site you can learn about some of his ways and provisions, and how to grow to maturity in a Christian life, but if you don't find what you are seeking here, just simply open up a bible and read, God through his Spirit will reveal all you ever need as you serve and honour Him with your life.
As a final note I would like to add that being born again and
following after Jesus Christ is not a ticket for a free ride that
will resolve your earthly problems, in fact you may even find
that life seems a little harder. But you can be certain that God
in His love and mercy will always be there for you providing a
way through your circumstance.
1 Corinthians 10:13 There
hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but
God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that
ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to
escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
God will give you peace where there
seems to be none. He's always there, just trust Him! (Hebrews
13:5)
Prayer of Repentance
Heavenly Father I come to you
now as I am and ask you to forgive me for the sins I have
committed I also ask You to give me the courage and insight to
correct past wrongs where possible.
I now accept and receive your son Jesus Christ as my Lord and
Saviour.
I invite You into my life Lord Jesus Christ, and I accept and believe that you died for me on the cross taking with you all my sin and guilt, and that You rose again the 3rd day making a way for me to come into God's Holy presence.
I believe that you have forgiven
my sins as I now forgive others who have hurt me in the past.
I turn away fully from all that I know to be wrong and sinfull
and I ask You Lord Jesus to fill me now with Your Holy Spirit.
Thank you Lord Jesus for saving me through the shedding of Your own blood.
AMEN.
The word "AMEN" is you saying "so be it", it's a fact now, by trusting in the word of God,
YOU ARE SAVED!
